Home News & Events Foundation hosts annual Scholarship Brunch The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation was pleased to host the annual Scholarship Brunch on Friday, Nov. 1. This event brings scholarship donors and recipients together to meet each other and celebrate another year of outstanding students and generous giving. The Foundation currently awards more than 130 scholarships (many with multiple recipients) that are privately funded by individuals, organizations and businesses. Foundation scholarships are competitive and students much complete an application and essay in order to be considered. Faculty Senate accepting scholarship applications Every year the NTCC Faculty Senate awards one or more scholarships to students who reside in Texas, have at least 15 semester hours, and are NOT receiving scholarship assistance above $500.00. The awards are funded by donation and payroll deductions from current and previous NTCC faculty members for students to finish their education at NTCC. Three new scholars admitted to Honors Northeast Honors Northeast, the Honors Program at Northeast Texas Community College since 2007, has admitted three new members for the spring semester. NTCC art to host Gary Perrone exhibit The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department will host an exhibit featuring paintings by Gary Perrone Friday, Feb. 7 through Wednesday, Feb. 26. A reception with the artist is will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer gallery. Refreshments will be served. Honors to premiere new original film February 21 In this the 8th cinematic premiere of a story from the Texas past in as many years, Honors Northeast, and the NTCC Webb Society will feature the story of Adina De Zavala. She was the granddaughter of Texas’ First Vice President, Lorenzo De Zavala. She and her San Antonio Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas played the pivotal role in re-centering and Catholicizing the nature of Texas patriotism in the early twentieth-century. The movie, at 7PM on Friday, 21 February at the Whatley Center of NTCC is free, and the public is invited. The script is based on an original interpretation of the De Zavala story pursued by the scholars of Honors Northeast. Thanks to the patrons of Honors Northeast, there will also be free refreshments after the film, and a panel discussion led by student actors and directors of the feature-length production. Jalyn English to present film excerpts ahead of new Honors premiere This Saturday, 25 January, English will make what will probably be the first of several shorter presentations of the film story, showing only certain segments. He will speak after a dinner at the Alamo Mission Museum to the friends of this Franklin County institution. PTA program celebrates 100 percent pass rate The Northeast Texas Community College Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program recently learned that all 12 of its December 2019 graduating class passed their professional licensure exam on the first try. Upon graduating with their Associate of Applied Science degree in PTA, graduates are required to sit for the NPTE Board Exam before starting their professional careers. Art Club seeks members The NTCC Art Club would like to invite students who have an interest in art or art history to consider joining. Club meetings are held on Tuesdays from 12:30-1:20 p.m. in the art lab in Humanities. Students from all majors are welcome to attend! Collins and Cox Win Eckman Awards Mercedes Collins, NTCC’s 2019-20 Texas Heritage Bank Scholar, had the highest combined grade in the Fall of 2019 Humusic Seminar, a learning community that combines modern world history, and music appreciation. Katelyn Cox came ahead of her peers in the Biotex Seminar, that combines general biology with Texas history.
